What are kaigai idols?
From the Net Idols Wiki: "Kaigai Idols (JP: 海外アイドル; literally Overseas idols ) are idols, primarily influenced by Japanese pop idol culture, based outside of Japan. The term was first coined by PAiDA on social media on February 12th, 2017. The Overseas Idol community has existed for almost two to three decades. While the members of this community stems from J-pop fandom, many of it's members also comes from already existing communities such as the Odorite and Utaite communities from all over the world."
The members of moshimoshi*mousse have all been active in their local idols communities and the greater kaigai idol for at least a few years each, but realized that they had a similar mindset and goal for their idol acitivities when they met through their previous idol group, seek.er. Thus, they formed mm*m!
All three members are also active in the idol community in other ways. Ronan and Neon (as well as our staff member Zeon) are directors of Idol HOME, an overseas idol archive and resource page. Those three are also management for Anime Weekend Atlanta's idol programming department, where they host tons of idol shows over four days - one of the largest celebrations of kaigai idol culture in the USA! Levvy and Ronan also both engage with their local idol scene in Texas and the surrounding areas, hosting shows at conventions. They hope that their genuine love for the community can shine through their idol activities!
